Patch tests
Patch tests are used to detect substances that cause contact dermatitis. They are safe, rapid, and very useful for identifying the source of skin lesions.
We have several allergen batteries for diagnosing contact dermatitis. Thanks to these, we can tailor the test to each patient and obtain a reliable result.
What are patch tests?
Patches containing different allergens are placed on the back. They remain on for 48 hours. After this time, they are removed and the skin’s reaction is observed. In some cases, a new reading is taken after 72 or 96 hours.
Common Indications
- Recurrent dermatitis.
- Chronic eczema.
- Reactions after contact with metals, perfumes, cosmetics, or dyes.
- Injuries associated with cleaning products or work materials.
Care During the Process
While the patches are in place, do not get the area wet or apply creams. It is also important to avoid excessive sweating. These measures ensure a reliable test and an accurate reading.
