Chemical Peels: Glycolic Acid

glycolic acid

What is a Chemical Peel?

A Chemical Peel is a medical-aesthetic treatment that consists of applying a series of chemical agents to the skin in order to eliminate the most superficial layers of the epidermis. The result is a face with a younger, brighter and renewed appearance. In addition to a significant reduction in expression lines, stains, wrinkles and acne.

What is a Chemical Peel for?

To promote the renewal of the most superficial layers of the skin and stimulate the formation of collagen, elastin and other dermal substances that return to the skin the elasticity, firmness and flexibility that it had lost. As a consequence of this, we will obtain a skin with a better appearance, renewed, with more luminosity and with a reduction in wrinkles and pigmentary alterations. The tone, shine, and texture of the skin are noticeably improved and pore size is reduced.

What will we notice during the Peeling and immediately after it?

DURING: A slight sensation of heat, burning and tolerable itching due to the action of the acid that will disappear after the application of the neutralizer.

AFTER: The skin will be tight, red and slightly swollen. You can also see some flaking. All these effects will gradually disappear over the week after the treatment and the skin will regain its normal appearance.

What is the best time of year to do it?

At the Dr. Aliaga Dermatological Clinic we recommend undergoing our chemical peel in Valencia during the months that include autumn, winter and early spring. After applying this treatment, the skin will be more sensitive, so sun exposure is strongly discouraged.

In which cases is it indicated?

Facial photoaging, severe melasma, acne scars, actinic and seborrheic keratoses and, in general, in all those who want to improve the appearance of their skin.
